Help & Support
Answers to common questions about the Landcrafters field reporting app.
Voice Dictation
Most text fields on the workslip form have a microphone button in the top-right corner. Tap it to start dictating — your words will appear in the field as you speak. The session ends automatically when you pause, or you can tap the red microphone to stop early.
Troubleshooting: “No speech detected”
This error usually means one or more of the following settings is disabled on your device. Check each item below in order:
- Enable Siri
Go to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri (iOS 18+) or Settings → Siri & Search (iOS 17 and earlier) and turn on “Ask Siri”. Speech recognition shares the same on-device model as Siri — dictation will not work if Siri is disabled. - Enable Dictation
Go to Settings → General → Keyboard and turn on Enable Dictation. This is the system-wide dictation switch and must be on regardless of Siri. - Allow Microphone access
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and make sure Landcrafters is set to Allow. - Allow Speech Recognition access
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition and make sure Landcrafters is set to Allow. This is a separate permission from the microphone. - Check your internet connection
On older devices (pre-A17 chip), iOS sends audio to Apple’s servers for recognition. Make sure you have a working Wi-Fi or cellular connection. On newer devices, recognition runs entirely on-device and does not require internet.
After enabling Siri and Dictation, force-quit and relaunch the app if the error persists.
Creating a Workslip
Tap the + button on the home screen to start a new workslip. The form is split into tabs — fill out each one relevant to your job for the day:
- Job — date, property address, customer, job name, and a description of work performed
- Labor — employees on site, service type, start/end times
- Trucking — truck, driver, hours used
- Equipment — equipment used and hours
- Materials — materials used, quantities, and supplier
- Photos — attach job site photos (mobile only)
Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are required. If you switch away from a tab with missing required fields, a red dot appears on that tab’s icon. Submitting with missing fields shows a warning — you can fix them or choose to save anyway.
Entering times
On mobile the time picker opens with no AM or PM chosen — pick one, or type the time with “am”/“pm” on the end. Done stays greyed out until it knows which half of the day you mean, so a 4pm start can never be saved as 4am by accident.
End time has to be after start time. A crew that works past midnight is entered as two rows — 8pm to 11:59pm, then 12:00am to 2am on the next day’s workslip. Entered as one row there is no way to tell a night shift from a start and end typed the wrong way round, and guessing wrong would put the hours on the wrong day.
Materials removed from the jobsite
Tick Any materials removed from the jobsite? and add a row for each kind, with its yardage. If what was hauled off is not in the list, choose Other and type what it was — that description is what reaches the office and the invoice, so “Pallets” is more use than “Other”.
Tap Submit when you are done. The workslip saves to your device immediately and syncs to the server automatically when you have an internet connection.
Snow & Ice
Seasonal plowing lives under Snow & Ice on the web app, and is available to foremen, managers and admins. It follows the season in order:
- Contracts — a contract is how a property enters the module. Pick the customer, tick which of their properties it covers, and set each one’s terms. Properties come from Zoho; there is no separate import step.
- Preplanning — what has to be true about each property before the first storm: gate codes and access notes, shovel instructions, hazards, and a site plan drawn on aerial imagery showing plow zones, push piles and no-salt areas.
- Routes — the order properties get worked, with a coverage map showing which route covers what and which properties none does.
- Storm Console — open a storm, release a route to send its stops out, and record what came back.
Preplanning sheets and route sheets both print, so a driver can carry the hazards and access notes on paper.
If a property shows no aerial view, its address could not be placed on the map. Use Locate this property on its preplanning page, and check the address in Zoho if that does not find it.
Appearance
Light or dark, on your Account page under Appearance. System follows whatever your computer is set to, which is what it does until you choose otherwise. The choice is remembered in that browser, so it is per device rather than per login.
Maps follow it too — the route and coverage maps have a night basemap, drawn dark rather than dimmed, so street names stay readable.
Syncing
Workslips are saved locally first, so you can work offline in the field. They sync to the server automatically whenever the app is open and you have an internet connection.
To check sync status or trigger a manual sync, go to the Settings tab. The Sync section shows how many workslips are pending, failed, or successfully synced. Tap Sync Now to force an immediate sync attempt.
If a workslip shows a persistent sync error, the Settings screen shows the exact error message under each failed item in the Sync Queue section. Tap Sync Now to retry, or re-open and re-submit the affected workslip to reset the retry counter. Tap Resync to re-download all records from the server.
Signing In
You can sign in with Google or Apple. On the login screen, tap Sign in with Google and choose your Maine Landcrafters Google account, or tap Sign in with Apple to use your Apple ID (you can use Hide My Email or your real address — either works).
If you see a “Session expired” message, tap Sign in againin Settings or return to the login screen. Any workslips created while offline are saved locally and will sync automatically once you sign back in.
